So, few days ago I returned from a week spent in one of the
most beautiful European cities. I went there with couple of students from
the high school I teach at. The main focus was on them participating in
the Erasmus+ programme, which included working in numerous graphic design
companies, learning the specific processes that are involved in graphic design,
media and advertising. I could tell they liked it very much. However, the
school and the work weren´t the only opportunities they got. We had afternoons,
evenings and weekends to explore the city, spend some quality time together and
have fun. Not saying there weren´t moments I wished I had stayed at home, but
they were quickly overcome by all those awesome moments that will make for
great memories.
After 20 minutes after I arrived to our apartment, my room promptly
changed into... well, many things... For one, it served as the Hogwarts Great
Hall where all the important information was traded (and sometimes served for
unplanned “family” dinners), common room where (in the morning or after the
work) all the life was concentrated… Then, of course, cinema, because paying
for Netflix and being able to catch the newest episodes of our most favourite TV
series has its perks… But I was grateful for all the trust and openness that
the kids were able to give me (and, hopefully, I gave back).
Oh, and when it comes to food, one would think that Budapest, being the
capital of a country where every one of my favourite spices came from, was THE
place to eat… Well, it was. But not in the places we were supposed to eat. We
had dinners arranged in a restaurant that looked very cool at the first sight;
like a traditional British pub somewhere in Manchester. Unfortunately, the food
they gave us was a nightmare. That´s why we were always looking for better
places to fill our tummies. And let me tell you, we found them pretty easily.
However, it wasn´t really the traditional cuisine; Mexican food, Italian food,
traditional American hamburgers…. Everything was better without spicy sausage
in a Bolognese sauce.
Here are pictures of some of my favourite moments from Budapest, so
enjoy 😊
