On leaving, pt.2

...And this time it´s not me who´s packing up the bags.

It´s funny (and incredible at the same time) how people can make friends so quickly and find the ones they like in the strangest of places.  And that´s what today´s story is about.

When I started teaching, I wasn´t so happy with the choice I made, because I never could imagine myself as someone whose mission was to share knowledge and experience and be the responsible one. Clearly, it wasn´t only me, having this opinion. When sharing the news, one of my oldest friends got into some kind of shock, exclaiming “What the f***, the hell must have frozen over!” Frankly, I thought the same thing. He knows me well and clearly thinks that I am the one still in need of someone responsible watching over me. Which is, honestly, kinda true. BUT! That´s the beauty of teaching at high school; it´s full of young adults who, at this point, should have their own opinions formed and possess at least a little sense of responsibility (that´s the general rule but... who am I kidding). So there´s still a little time and place for me to stay my old, crazy, irresponsible self. What´s even better, there are people who don´t mind seeing me at my “best” on one day and listen to me speaking about grammar and vocabulary and take my advice the other.

Just like me few years ago, two of them stand on crossroads and have to make a choice; one of the most important choices of their life, to be exact. And they are doing well so far. They decided to challenge themselves and apply for several places at Universities in Denmark. We spend every possible minute trying to perfect their assignments; they are artists, so I cannot really help them with that side, but what I can do is help them write and vamp up their letters, essays and other assignments in English. Btw, they are doing it all themselves, I am just giving them feedback and the final check. They are doing so well that honestly, I couldn´t be prouder. And just btw, I am sure we will hear about them pretty soon. I wish them nothing but the best for their lives and careers.

These are some of their works so far (and their Instagram handles, just in case you want to see more):

Life is a crazy journey and you meet so many people in places you don´t expect them to appear. And that´s exactly what happened to me. Apart from these two beauties, I met many beautiful souls since I came back from Germany. Some of them, however, I want to keep a sweet secret for just a bit longer; just for my own peace of mind and happiness 😊

So until next time,
čauko, Lenka.
