Autumn through my eyes Pt. 1: Your perfect rainy days guide
Autumn is great. Last rays of sunshine, pumpkin spice
lattes, colourful fallen leaves… But sometimes, it can get pretty gloomy. You
know, winter´s coming close, it´s getting pretty cool outside and rain
surprises you more than often. On days like these, I managed to build up a
pretty decent routine to get me through the gloomy weather without headaches or
boredom. Today is one of these days and that´s why I decided to share my
favourite activities and ways to make it as cosy and nice as possible.
If you have nowhere to rush, stay in bed.
Today my alarm clock started buzzing pretty early. I woke up, went downstairs to brush my teeth and make myself a cup of tea and then it hit me. I looked through the window and saw rain and muddy puddles everywhere. A quick think-through revealed that I have nowhere to rush today, so I took my tea back to my room, made myself feel all cosy and started watching… wait for it… Hocus Pocus. It´s a classic! If you haven´t seen it yet, where have you been? It´s a perfect pre-Halloween way to spend your morning. Believe me, you´ll feel better after watching it J
Other alternatives that I like to do are reading a good book (preferably Harry Potter, of course) or just having a thoughtful moment in my bed, relaxing my mind and body under the comfortable blankets.

Headache? No prob. Try yoga.
And no, I don´t mean all those pretzel shapes that you see on YouTube. Just do what you think is right and what makes you feel better.
When I first started with yoga, I thought that the main point is getting those shapes right. And after my classes, I felt like a zombie, unable to walk home. Once on a market I met this Yogi woman and she told me that the most important aspect of doing yoga is feeling good and not ruining your body. The only thing you have to think about is breathing and only then will you find out what yoga actually is. After that, I started focusing on my breathing and let me tell you, it´s a miracle. When I have a headache, I turn to yoga instead of taking painkillers. When your breathing is correct, your brain gets more oxygen and the headache is gone by the end of your practice. It works wonders.

Autumn decoration makes your mood lift.
And my mum agrees. We are bonkers into seasonal decoration. As soon as the first autumn day comes, we are getting crazy with autumn inspired wreaths, bouquets, candle holders, basically anything that screams autumn. We are planning on going to our local park and collect acorns and chestnuts and put it in a giant glass container with a nice rustic candle. My personal favourite, however, is much simpler; I like fairy lights. Fairy lights everywhere. My room has a giant windowsill, so I like to spread them there, or around my paintings on the wall. It looks cosy and makes the room look definitely more autumn-like. By the way, I am planning on doing an autumn series, so once we are finished with our decorations, I will definitely share them here.

I love cooking. Or baking. But I think you´ve already noticed that, right?
Autumn is a pumpkin season and I like pumpkin everything. Yesterday I decided
to prepare a pumpkin bread. I was a tad bit nervous because although I like
baking, it´s not my strongest side. It´s the cooking I am better at. But I
decided to accept the challenge and went for it. And it turned out amazing, and
you´ll see it in one of my future blogposts J But what I wanted to say is that sometimes the time
spent in the kitchen preparing something that will not only lift your mood but
fill your stomach is a time well spent.
These are some of my favourite ways of taking some
alone time on gloomy days like today is, without any doubt. I would like to
know about your tips and tricks. If you have any, please do let me know in the
comment section down below.
Until next time,
čauko, Lenka J
