Heat-proof (and affordable) summer make-up

Image
The season of shorts, flip-flops, sunscreen and boho hairstyles is here again! Summer full of fun and adventures, music festivals and barbecue parties… The atmosphere is great, the sun is shining and… the sweaty face is inevitable. Everyone´s looking for a way how to keep the sweat away (what a rhyme!). Now I am not saying that my summer make-up is perfect and prevents me from sweating – no product can do that 100%. But it helps my make-up stay on my face despite all the sweat beads that appear on my forehead from time to time. THE BASE Always moisturize! If you don´t like the creamy texture, choose a product that is more gel-like. My moisturizer of choice at the moment is the one from Diadermine. It is creamy, but it sinks into my skin and doesn´t make me oily. Apart from that, it has an SPF, which is the most important thing during the summer months. To freshen up during the day, I use the rose water from Alverde. There are no chemicals in it, so it doesn´t dam...

My Top 5 binge-worthy series on Netflix

Image
Everyone spends the first weeks of summer in a different way.  For some people it means the beginning of a new travel season, others spend it drowning in booze. Were my current circumstances different, I would hover somewhere in between the two, why lie… Unfortunately (my bank account and liver will thank me later), I had to chose a different path. A path that would force me to lie down with my leg all stitched up, looking like a dead limp without any signs of life. Of course, I had to find a way to entertain myself because otherwise, I would go pretty mad pretty quickly. That’s when I re-discovered the beauty of subscription-based online TV providers (I have no effin idea how to call them), one of them being Netflix. This little guy is what’s been keeping me alive for over a week and I couldn’t be happier, because for 8 dollars a month, I now have my own little cinema full of good old classics and new discoveries at the same time. And of course, I decided to share my curre...

Scars.

Image
“   Our scars make us know that our past was for real. ” — Jane Austen This quote has had a very important place in my life for many years. It´s been ages since I got my first scar. I think everyone got one like this; reminder of your first ever biking accident or a little patch of pink skin immortalizing a story from your childhood.  You know, I think scars are like photographs, in a way. Photographs you carry around with you all the time. It only takes one short glance and you are immediately reminded of the time, place and the cause of why this little beast will decorate your skin forever.  Why am I talking about such a weird topic right now, you may ask? Well, when it comes to scars, I am the spokesperson of all the scarred people in the world. Okay, sorry for the exaggeration, but trust me, my scars could tell you stories which would make your hair stand up. So let´s start with the physical ones.  It´s been years since I first walked into a...

Fifty shades of unicorn

“Mom, look! The lady sitting over there has purple hair!” This is something that happens all the time. Long stares, gasps or comments that are meant to have no sound but somehow everyone ends up hearing them.   I must admit, I am aware of the fact that my hair, with its bright colours is somehow bound to catch attention of other people. But safe to say, the comments and notes are hardly ever negative; more often they are expressed with admiration over the unusual shade and occurrence of such (un)natural phenomenon. Let´s take a trip down the memory lane and look at where it all began. I was born with a face (blessing or curse?) that encourages every stranger that has ever walked by me to ask for directions or an advice about a good local restaurant. It doesn´t necessarily have to be a bad thing because thanks to this little perk, I made friends with loads of people from around the world. Although my face encourages people to start a conversation with me, my hair, with its...
