Heat-proof (and affordable) summer make-up
The season
of shorts, flip-flops, sunscreen and boho hairstyles is here again! Summer full
of fun and adventures, music festivals and barbecue parties… The atmosphere is
great, the sun is shining and… the sweaty face is inevitable.
Everyone´s
looking for a way how to keep the sweat away (what a rhyme!). Now I am not
saying that my summer make-up is perfect and prevents me from sweating – no product
can do that 100%. But it helps my make-up stay on my face despite all the sweat
beads that appear on my forehead from time to time.
THE BASE
Always moisturize! If you don´t like the creamy texture, choose a product that
is more gel-like. My moisturizer of choice at the moment is the one from
Diadermine. It is creamy, but it sinks into my skin and doesn´t make me oily.
Apart from that, it has an SPF, which is the most important thing during the summer
months. To freshen up during the day, I use the rose water from Alverde. There
are no chemicals in it, so it doesn´t damage your skin. Plus, it acts as a
natural toner and helps to even-out any redness that may occur on your face.
The next step for me is a primer. During summer, I don´t like the liquid ones
in tubes, I prefer the ones that come in sticks. The one I currently use is the
Catrice blurring stick. It erases my pores which is a huge plus. And although
it doesn´t claim it on the container, I think it´s waterproof, which is all I
ask from a good primer. Besides, it´s affordable, so it can´t get any better.
When it´s hot outside, I like to skip the foundation because it´s just another
unnecessary layer on my face. Instead, I use the Catrice concealer under my
eyes to cover the darkness and, if there´s any blemish on my face, I also use
it to spot-conceal. The concealer is amazing because it has quite a good
coverage, PLUS it´s waterproof! What else can you wish for in a concealer?
I don´t always powder, but when I do, I use the Maybelline Affiniton powder.
It´s not mattifying and heavy, and doesn´t ad any coverage, which I like during
summer.
When it comes to cheeks, I love myself a good old bronzer. And I have two
options for you right here! When I don´t use powder, I like to use this Alverde
liquid bronzer and illuminator. It blends well on my skin and together with the
liquid highlighter, it creates a perfect and natural cheek combo. The Rimmel
Kate cheek trio is a perfect option on days when I use the face powder. It´s not
overly pigmented, which creates a very natural shade on your cheeks. Plus, the
bronze goddess look it gives you… You glow girl!
EYES AND
LIPS
If I have my brows tinted, I don´t use any additional product, I just brush
them through so they don´t look unruly. But if I need to add something extra, I
use a tinted brow gel from Essence (it´s not featured on any of the photos
because hey, “professional” over here). It adds a bit of colour and helps keep
them in place.
I hardly ever use any eyeshadow on my eyes during the summer heat, if
something, I just add a little bit of bronzer in my sockets. However, the one
thing I never miss is the mascara. At the moment, I am still loving the L´oreal
Lash Paradise. It coats every single lash and keeps them separated. If there´s
one thing I don´t like, it´s lashes that are glued together with a bad mascara.
This one´s great, trust me.
I keep it pretty simple when it comes to my lips. For me, it´s all about the
tint. When I´m lazy, I only use the Labello Chapstick. Apart from keeping my
lips moisturised, it has a slight reddish tint to it. However, if I am looking
for a real deal of a tint, I use the Catrice Sex-proof Lip Ink. It only takes
one swipe and your lips get a nice orange-red tint that lasts at least 12
hours. No need for heavy liquid lipsticks in this heat, right?
So this is
what my make-up routine is all about when it´s hot outside. I am not a fan of a
sweaty face so if I can help myself to avoid it, I will do everything it takes.
Of course, one may think, why wear any makeup at all? You are right, indeed.
But why stop doing something that can make us feel beautiful and maybe little
bit more confident?
Until next
time,
Čauko,
Lenka 😊
