In defence of retro beauty

During one of our countless makeup-bag raidings, me and my friend got   all caught up with the theme of beauty and how much it has changed over the years.   Being the makeup lovers that we are, having our (not so little) bags filled up with so many products we can hardly zip them up, we couldn´t help but wonder; is this all necessary?   Yes, we do like the process of using a different brush for a different part of our face or adding a little sparkle to our cheeks, but… was it always like this? Then my friend remembered a conversation she had with her grandmother. They were going through some old photos of her and her family and she picked up one and said something like this: “oh, I remember how beautiful I felt that particular day”. Not wanting to be rude, my friend just nodded and kept thinking about it. When she told me and described the photo, I immediately knew what she meant. Budapest wanderings...

So, few days ago I returned from a week spent in one of the most beautiful European cities. I went there with couple of students from the high school I teach at. The main focus was on them participating in the Erasmus+ programme, which included working in numerous graphic design companies, learning the specific processes that are involved in graphic design, media and advertising. I could tell they liked it very much. However, the school and the work weren´t the only opportunities they got. We had afternoons, evenings and weekends to explore the city, spend some quality time together and have fun. Not saying there weren´t moments I wished I had stayed at home, but they were quickly overcome by all those awesome moments that will make for great memories. After 20 minutes after I arrived to our apartment, my room promptly changed into... well, many things... For one, it served as the Hogwarts Great Hall where all the important information was traded (and sometime...
