My winter library

… or what to read until you find a brand new book under the Christmas tree. I guess my reading taste changes with the seasons. In the warmer periods of the year I usually reach for funny “Sex and the City”-like love stories; who doesn´t want to experience a hot summer fling, right? Another type of reading options for warmer seasons are usually novels about traveling and exploring (fictional or not) because they are able to take me places that are either unreachable or I need to wait until the next holiday rolls over to reach them (if they actually exist).   However, my winter reading list is exponentially different. Some people even go as far as saying it´s darker. I wouldn´t call it dark necessarily, but you know… do as you wish. The thing is, in winter I usually opt for fantasy and fiction; right now I am all the rage for witches and magic, I can´t help it. Other topics that are (more than certainly) covered in the colder months are vampires, ghost stories, conspir...

Winter beauty essentials

Winter is coming... no, I am totally not binge watching Game of Thrones right now. But really, winter is coming...like four weeks till Christmas. Whos´s excited? With the sudden drop of temperatures, people started digging out winter coats from their wardrobes. I did, too. However, wearing thicker clothes is not the only thing that changes with the winter fast approaching; make-up does, too. I mean, we are seeing more and more burgundy on lips, eyes and nails since the start of september, but that doesn´t mean we have to put it in a drawer and revisit it next year. I think that using those colour tones is more than appropriate in winter, too. Generally, using natural, more intense tones is a must (think wine, emerald or earthy tones). Apart from being a bookworm, traveller, cook and a history freak, I am also a total make-up lover. And that is precisely the reason why I decided to talk to you about what I think are the most essential makeup and beauty items you should reach for...

Autumn through my eyes, Pt. 3: Pumpkin Bread

Image
What else would it be? Of course I couldn´t finish my autumn series without my favourite autumn recipe! As you probably all know by now, autumn (or fall, depends on where you´re from) is filled with pumpkins and pumpkin spice, which is the holy grail spice for all the pumpkin lovers out there. Honestly, I don´t quite understand why it´s called pumpkin spice, because it´s not made of pumpkins... AT ALL! (my mind´s playing tricks on me again!) It´s basically a combination of three spices; nutmeg, cinnamon and clove, each one having a particular taste. Together, they are THE match made in heaven. I am not sure what the origins of the pumpkin bread are, some tell me it´s from Britain, others think it´s from the States because they are the authors of the autumnal/halloweenish tradition. Anyway, I don´t really care about its origins, the most important aspect for me is the heavenly taste. :) So let´s get to the most important part; What do we need? 2 cups all-purpose flour 1/2 tea...

Dear readers,

If you are reading this post and you read my previous ones, too, you will probably think I lost my brain (or what was left of it) somewhere along the way. The real, "adult" and responsible life has just started and I found a job. Unbelievable, right? I became what I never thought I would become; Ms Teacher 😃. I am teaching full-time from now on and I can´t believe I decided to do this! So far, I am liking it (shocker) and I hope the good mood and the determination won´t leave me like.. next week 🙂 I stopped here today because I skipped friday´s post and I feel bad for it. Friday is one of the busiest days for me now, apart from regular high-school students I also have the evening school,  so I have to move my blogpost days for either Wednesday or Sunday. But I will try my best and post a baking photo guide for you tomorrow (My cooking posts are the most read ones so far). Keep your fingers crossed for me, please! Until next time, čauko, Lenka :)
